IBIS CANCER RESEARCH UNIT

PAPANICOLAOU CORPS FOR CANCER RESEARCH, INC.

Dear Ibis Neighbor and Friend:

A group of Ibis residents has formed a volunteer organization called The Ibis Cancer Research Unit. We are a unit of the Papanicolaou Corps for Cancer Research Inc. Pap Corps is a volunteer organization that came into existence in 1952. There are 54 units throughout Florida, with over 16,000 volunteer members.

The sole function, of this organization, is to raise funds for research at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. What separates us from other organizations is that 99.1% OF OUR FUNDS RAISED GOES TO CANCER RESEARCH.

Your membership will:

Give you priority access to doctors. There is a network of doctors and information to aid you in making difficult decisions and, there is a support group already in existence for you if the need arises. Pap Corps Units keep members informed of the latest techniques.

Help fight this dreaded disease that has taken far too many of our loved ones because, research brings tomorrow’s cure.

Enable Sylvester to continue its research into unlocking the secrets of the tumor cell, or finding a gene mutation in nonhereditary colon cancer. These are just samplings of the important and promising scientific discoveries occurring at UM/Sylvester. The financial support of the individual units of the Papanicolaou Corps has made this possible.
