DECLARING MAY 2010
CANCER RESEARCH MONTH
IN HONOR OF THE VOLUNTEER MEMBERSHIP OF THE PAPANICOLAOU CORPS FOR CANCER RESEARCH
              
WHEREAS, during the month of May 2010 the Pap Corps celebrates its members and wishes to pay tribute to these men and women for their tireless efforts and dedication to funding cancer research, supported by Palm Beach County, and;

WHEREAS, the purpose of Cancer Research Month is to educate the community about The Pap Corps and their support of vital research projects at The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and;

WHEREAS, the annual Pap Corps contribution to Sylvester, to be presented in May 2010, represents 99.1% of monies raised this year by its all-volunteer membership, going directly to cancer research, the community will learn about the on-going efforts this contribution will make possible, and;

WHEREAS, The Pap Corps’ presence in Palm Beach County has brought residents access to state-of-the-art treatment locally, along with immediate information about cutting edge research findings and procedures, and;

WHEREAS, the Papanicolaou Corps for Cancer Research, with a total South Florida membership of more than 21,000 men and women, a vast majority residing in Palm Beach County, is striving for a world without cancer based on their conviction that “Today’s Research Brings Tomorrow’s Cure.”

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, assembled in regular session this sixth day of April 2010, that the month of May 2010 in Palm Beach County is hereby declared:

The Papanicolaou Corps for Cancer Research  
and urge all interested citizen and businesses to recognize this worthwhile organization. 

BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA,
that this proclamation is duly sealed, ribboned and executed by the members of this Board. The foregoing Proclamation was sponsored by Commissioner Steven L. Abrams, and upon unanimous consent of the Board, the Chairperson declared the Proclamation duly enacted.
